Don’t be afraid to throw it away and start over…
I opened the fridge and I saw it…
All the way in the back. That container of homemade sauce.
The sauce we had 2 weeks ago with spaghetti squash and meatballs.
The sauce I forgot about and let sit WAY past the time it became useless.
Down the sink it goes.
Why am I telling you this?
Because the same thing happens in customer service.
It has happened to me.
I took over the department for a new client. Sat down and rewrote all the email templates.
And they were good. Hit on the psychological buttons of persuasion and influence. Drove the customers towards the desired next step.
Sold them on additional products or services, when appropriate.
And they worked. So I left well enough alone.
But things change. URL’s get updated.
Websites get reorganized. Prices and offers change.
Business and market conditions shift over time.
And those fresh, well written email templates start to get a bit stale. Just like my once delicious homemade sauce.
Maybe they can be fixed. Freshened up a bit.
Or maybe, like the sauce, they need to be dumped and replaced with something fresh.

P.S. If this is you, and your emails could use some freshening up, send me a message.
I’d love to help you get it right.
